Winchester Big Bore 10mm ammunition doesn’t have a bear on its box because it’s intended for defense in urban areas. This ammo’s designed to terminate woodland threats to your bodily integrity. That includes bears, of course, as well as catamounts, hogs, and moose.
That’s not to say this ammo can’t neutralize a two-legged threat. Far from it. A 4/10” diameter 200 grain bolt of lead and copper exiting the barrel at supersonic velocity (Winchester recorded this round’s MV with a 5” test barrel) is due to deal massive damage no matter which way you slice it. But because it is designed to delay terminal expansion until it has penetrated a short distance, the semi-jacketed hollow point is more inclined to pass clean through a man and jeopardize innocent lives. Such deep penetration is of welcome advantage when you’re contending with a thicker, tougher foe, however – especially out in the woods, where bystanders aren’t likely to be.
This round’s .182 G1 BC bullet stays supersonic until around 25 yards, and hits with at least 500 ft lbs of energy within 63 yards (assuming a 5” barrel, like the P320-XTEN and many 1911s have).

What is a Bullwinkle?, the description says effective againts bear, cougar, hogs and bullwinkles. Is a bullwinkle a moose? This is need to know info,I don't want to think I am ok in a moose charging insident then find out all I did was make the moose angrier because a bullwinkle is some other animal! Also, how big of a bear are the rounds effective against?, just black bear,or is it big enough for defense against a grizzly or Kodiak bear ?
Answer:
Hello Shane! A "Bullwinkle" is indeed a moose. Look up "Bullwinkle J. Moose" and you'll see. (I reckon I was overly presumptuous when I wrote that, assuming everyone would know who Bullwinkle is. My bad! Lesson learned; I updated the product description.) This ammo's technically capable of killing a grizz, although I'd recommend hard cast ammo if you want maximum stopping power against a brute of that magnitude.
