01. How long will it take to get my order?

Most orders ship within 1 or 2 business day. Orders shipped by FedEx Ground or UPS Ground are usually delivered within 1 to 5 business days after shipping. Orders shipped by an economy shipping option may take closer to 2 weeks to arrive. If you order several different items, they may ship from multiple warehouses and be delivered at different times.

02. If a product is out of stock, can I place a back order?

At this time we are not accepting back orders for out of stock items.

03. Do I need a special license to buy from Cheaper Than Dirt?

Most of our products may be purchased without any special licenses or permits. However, if you are shipping ammunition to one of the following states, then we are required to obtain the following documentation before we can ship your order to you:

  • Connecticut - a copy of both: (1) your current Connecticut Driver’s License or state-issued I.D. that displays your birthdate; and (2) your current permit to carry a pistol or revolver, permit to sell at retail a pistol or revolver, eligibility certificate for a pistol or revolver, long gun eligibility certificate, or ammunition certificate. Connecticut law requires us to collect these documents for magazine purchases, as well.
  • Illinois - a copy of both: (1) your current Illinois Driver’s License or Illinois State I.D. Card; and (2) your current Illinois Firearm Owner ’s Identification Card or concealed carry license. We must ship to an address listed on one of these documents.
  • New Jersey – a copy of both: (1) your current New Jersey Driver's License or another government-issued photo I.D. that displays your birthdate; and (2) your current license as a firearms manufacturer, wholesaler, or dealer, firearms purchaser identification card, permit to purchase a handgun, or permit to carry a handgun.
  • Rhode Island – a copy of both: (1) your current government-issued photo I.D. that displays your birthdate; and (2) your Rhode Island pistol/revolver safety certificate ("Blue Card"), Rhode Island hunter education course card issued by the department of environmental management, license or permit to carry a pistol or revolver concealed issued by a Rhode Island city or town, or license or permit to carry a pistol or revolver issued by the Rhode Island attorney general.

You will be able to securely submit your documents to us on the order confirmation page after you complete checkout. Alternatively, you may upload your documents directly into your customer account, scan and email them to customerservice@cheaperthandirt.com, or text them to (817) 442-6681.

Your order will not ship until we have received and approved the required documents. Once you have approved documents on file, any future orders will ship automatically (as long as your documents are valid).

04. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.

05. Can I save my credit card for future orders?

Yes. Simply check the "save this credit card" box during checkout, and the next time you order you will be able to select the saved card from a drop-down menu instead of typing in the information again.

When you save your credit card information to your Cheaper Than Dirt! account for future purchases and a quicker checkout, our site only stores the bank-level secure token provided from our payment processor. When you purchase an item, your purchase is sent securely with your token back to our processor to complete the transaction.

A token is a randomized series of digits created by the payment processor when credit card or similar form of payment is received. This token cannot be translated back into its original information by anyone except the payment processor. This is a more secure way to purchase online! To further secure payment information, each token created for this site is only associated with this site—a token cannot be used to make a purchase through another retailer.

06. Do you accept Personal Checks?

We do not accept personal checks, money orders, or cashier’s checks.

07. How can I find out if you’ve received my order?

After you complete your purchase, a confirmation page will be displayed with your order number and order information. We'll also email a confirmation to you, so be sure to enter your correct email address when placing an order.

08. How can I find out when my order was shipped?

We will send you an e-mail with your tracking number when your order ships. The tracking number may not work until UPS or FedEx scans your product into their system.

09. How do I place an order?

You may place your order anytime, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week on our website, www.CheaperThanDirt.com. If you’re having trouble placing your order online, please give us a call at (800) 421-8047 Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST. One of our friendly, U.S.-based customer service representatives will be happy to assist you.

10. Can I cancel or add to an order once it’s been submitted?

Orders are sent immediately to the warehouse for fulfillment. Therefore, we are not able to cancel or add items to your order once you have placed it.

11. Why don’t you ship internationally?

Due to evolving government regulations, and to keep our prices as low as we can, we only accept and ship orders within the United States. We do not accept or ship orders to U.S. territories or other countries.

12. My products were damaged in transit. What do I do?

If your products arrive damaged or defective, they may be returned to us within thirty (30) days of your order date for a replacement or store credit. This doesn’t include damage to boxes or packaging – only to the products themselves.

To initiate a return of a damaged or defective product, please e-mail us at customerservice@cheaperthandirt.com so one of our customer service representatives can send you a Return Request form to complete. We will not issue a refund for any damaged or defective products that do not have an approved Return Request form on file.

You must complete the Return Request form in full. Any damage must be noted in the form, and you must supply pictures documenting the damage. Once you complete and return the form, we will review it to determine whether, in our discretion, your products are eligible to be returned. If your return is approved, we will send you a pre-paid shipping label so that you can send the damaged products back to us. You are responsible for properly packing and securing your products to protect them from damage during transit back to us.

All returned products are examined upon arrival. Once we receive and examine your return, we will either promptly send you a replacement or issue you appropriate store credit.

If you decide you want the product back after it has been received at our warehouse, we are happy to collect additional payment from you to cover the costs to ship the product back to you.

13. How can I return an item?

Items that are not damaged or defective may generally be returned within thirty (30) days of your order date. However, we do not accept returns of ammunition, food, surplus, and clearance/sales products unless they are damaged or defective at the time they are delivered to you.

To be eligible for a return, non-damaged/non-defective products must still be in their original packaging and may not be used or damaged. Non-damaged/non-defective products that are returned will be subject to a restocking fee equal to 25% of the total purchase amount. Products showing signs of use or damage to the product will be returned to you at your expense, without a refund.

To initiate a return of non-damaged/non-defective products, please e-mail us at customerservice@cheaperthandirt.com to obtain a Return Authorization Number and prepaid shipping label. We will not issue a refund for any products returned to our warehouse that do not have a Return Authorization Number on file.

All returned products are examined upon arrival. Once we receive, examine, and accept your return, we will issue you appropriate store credit. The original shipping charges will not be refunded to you, and any shipping charges incurred in returning the products to us will be deducted from your refund. If you decide you want the product back after it has been received at our warehouse, we are happy to collect additional payment from you to cover the costs to ship the product back to you.

16. Do you have a retail store?

Cheaper Than Dirt is an internet company, allowing customers to shop anytime from the comfort of their home. To keep prices as low as possible, we do not have a retail store.

17. Do I pay sales tax on my order?

Sales tax is charged for orders shipped to U.S. states in which sales taxes are applicable. The amount of tax charged is based on current tax rates and will depend on the destination of the shipment.

Gift cards are not charged sales tax, but purchases paid for with gift cards may be subject to tax.
