Weatherby rifle. Weatherby caliber. Weatherby ammunition. Everything just sort of falls into place sometimes!
If your 7mm Wby Mag rifle is destined to take aim at medium or large game, then this American-made hunting ammo is all that it needs. Weatherby loaded it with the 154 grain Hornady InterLock – a soft point which surpasses most other bullets in its class in terms of accuracy and terminal effect.
No soft point bullet’s tip can be quite as ballistically efficient as a polymer one. That being said, Hornady has managed to close the gap quite capably thanks to their InterLock’s signature secant ogive profile, as well as the exceptional concentricity of its jacket. By Weatherby’s measure, the bullet’s G1 BC equals .433 – higher than their 7mm Wby Mag 140 grain TTSX load (.412), but a squinch lower than their 160 grain A-Frame load (.450) of the same caliber.
The InterLock is named after the band which tethers its jacket to its core. Its cannelure similarly attaches its two components together, which is why the InterLock so reliably retains the majority of its weight after impact. The bullet’s tapered and grooved jacket helps it expand to extremely predictable effect. Everything will *truly* fall into place with the addition of that one remaining X factor: your own marksmanship.
