If you want steel-case 5.45x39mm ammo for your next range day, then you’re looking right at it. This ammo was manufactured according to the traditionally Russian way of reducing costs. Its cases are steel instead of brass, and are not reloadable. Its noncorrosive primers are Berdan instead of Boxer, and yet another reason why you can’t handload this ammo. Its 65 grain full metal jacket projectile has a bimetal jacket: primarily steel, and certain to attract a magnet because of it.

Between its weight and 2,974 fps muzzle velocity, this round’s ballistic performance isn’t too radically different from the 7N24 "super-armor-piercing" 5.45x39 variant. The key difference is that this round’s FMJ doesn’t have a tungsten carbide penetrator tip.
