I would buy this item again
It works pretty well but, you have to push the round down in the front after the 1st or 2nd round is installed in the magazine. For the price it works pretty good. It comes with a rail attachment which is handy as does all the XDm Gear. You can load the magazine to full capacity pretty easy with this loader. However if you have the money the Uplula design works much better.

Does this loader work with xd 9/40 magazines?

Probably, but might be too wide. A much better choice is the Maglula UpLULA Universal Pistol Magazine Loader, item MAG-242-014.
