Don’t be misled by this .357 Magnum round’s advertised 990 fps muzzle velocity. It’s only low for its 135 grain bullet weight because it was chronographed out of a 2” vented barrel (as opposed to the 4” or longer barrels normally used to measure .357 Mag muzzle velocity).

The Gold Dot JHP is the original bonded handgun bullet. Its fused-together jacket and core are abnormally resilient, and therefore pierce barriers and flesh alike without shedding excessive mass in the process. That allows the JHP to conserve more of the momentum it needs in order to reach a threat’s vital organ. The JHP additionally features a fine-tuned nose cavity, which is programmed to expand at a consistent rate *and* to a consistent diameter.
