Different than expected, but works...
I bought this thinking it was similar to the rifle sleeves that were popular in the early 2000s. These were padded foam with a fabric outer and shoe-string like ties to hold the flap folded over. This is not the same, but could be considered an improvement. These are not padded in the sense they have foam. They are more like thick furniture upholstery. But, they work and this is a good way to transport rifles to and from the range. These will hold an AR or a scoped rifle with ease. A scoped AR fits, but it's tight. CTD has a similar slimmer model that is about the same that would be good for rifles with iron sights. Overall, this are a good product, but if you want to carry a scoped AR, I'd look at the traditional black tactical padded cases.
