The Sightmark Laser Boresight provides the most convenient and accurate method for sighting in rifles and shotguns of all types. Simply chamber the boresight like a regular bullet and a laser dot will show exactly where the rifle is aiming. Its easy to sight in any scope without firing a single shot. Live fire is only needed to fine tune the weapon being sighted in order to compensate for inconsistencies, such as bullet drop due to distance. Perfect for hunters, competitive shooters and law enforcement, the Sightmark Laser Boresight is sure to take the frustration out of sighting in almost any gun. Its easy to use and will quickly save both time and money by avoiding prolonged live fire tests at the range; use the extra ammo for honing those shooting skills and for the hunt. A lightweight carrying pouch protects the laser for convenient use in the field. The Sightmark Laser Boresight is available in several calibers and gages for use with all the most popular rifles and shotguns. Sightmark-Make Your Mark!

This seems like it might be worth the $20 more vs the other similar one of these on this website
I bought this because it was the only one not reviewed and it looked a little nicer than the other similar one on here because the wire comes out of the side of the brass "bullet" instead of out of the back. (Please note that I didn't try the other one and I don't have any beef with it; I just thought I'm clumsy and likely to drop the bolt on it like a dummy, so why not get the one that looked more survivable.) It turns out you can't close the bolt on this unit and have it still work, it turns out; in both my Ruger 10/22 and my Ruger 22/45 if I close the bolt (softly) on this then I don't see any laser anymore, so I don't do that. I don't know if closing the bolt knocks it out of alignment or shuts it off with a safety switch or if there's an issue of some kind, but for whatever reason the light no longer shines if I close the bolt. But it *might* survive accidentally dropping the bolt once or twice accidentally, who knows; the less expensive one didn't look likely to survive such an event so I figure I did good. This is pretty basic, otherwise. It *barely* fits in the 22/45 Ruger target pistol. I have to pull the bolt back as far as it will go; where it latches is not far open enough. It does just fit, though. I can see the laser lines up good with the iron sights, which are already dead-on. As well, in the Ruger 10/22 rifle it's lined up with the iron sights, which are already good. I got this to see if I could get a scope to work on the 10/22, but the scope/mount/rail combo is not playing nice, so I guess the 10/22 will remain iron-only for now. This laser will come in handy when I try to scope it again with something else.
