Side Hawg 1 Single Side Knife -
The CRKT Side Hawg Knife, designed by Mike Franklin, features single piece 420J2 stainless steel construction. This CRKT Knife has a 1.625" chisel ground modified drop point fixed blade, .12" thick, with a Rockwell hardness of 54-56, and a notched thumb rest. The handle is drilled to lessen weight and it has a pronounced finger choil. The flat Zytel sheath plate has a stainless steel post, saddle clip, nylon strap and carabiner. The saddle clip keeps the blade edge safely sealed against the sheath plate. To release the Knife, press down, rotate the knife on the post, and lift off for use.
Drop Point Blade -
This blade has a gentle, sloping convex curve to the point versus the concave curve of the clip blade. Being thicker, this blade point is stronger for heavier tasks. It stands up to abuse well, but isn't as effective for easy penetration.
420J2 -
420J2 is a low carbon stainless steel and also the lowest grade of cutlery class stainless steel that is available. It is quite tough and resistant to corrosion. It has low wear resistance and edge holding ability making it a poor choice for a blade steel.
Zytel -
A glass filled nylon material used in making handles for knives. DuPont trademark.
Lanyard Hole -
This is a hole to fit a lanyard, rope or carrying implement through.
