Remington’s Performance WheelGun 22 series .22 LR ammunition is engineered specifically for classic revolvers. Needless to say, any modern six-shooter will happily tear through these subsonic target loads as well!
“Subsonic” is no exaggeration. The 39 grain bullet gains only 770 fps velocity upon clearing a handgun barrel (Remington has not reported their own test barrel length). That coincides with genuinely low-recoiling and quiet performance, as well as safe chamber pressure for an antique wheelgun.
The truncated cone bullet is seldom loaded in .22 LR ammunition. That’s too bad, because its flat, circular nose profile does a swell job of revealing precise shot placement on a paper bullseye. The lead bullet’s “solid” designation simply indicates that it lacks a nose cavity; not that it is a hard cast or any such thing.
This ammunition is packaged in clear plastic boxes. Not exactly a performance-enhancing feature, but a nice touch on Remington’s part all the same!
