We saw a brand of ice cream called “Magnum” the other day. We just shook our heads, because we disapprove of the word’s reference to anything but powerful 12 Gauge shotgun ammunition.

Take this Remington Express shotgun shell, for example. THIS is a magnum: 3”, with powder that accelerates FIFTEEN pieces of 00 buck to a muzzle velocity 100 fps higher than that of a sound wave. Sure puts a 3” non-magnum load’s eight or nine pellets to shame, now doesn’t it?

This shell’s tight pattern ups its power even higher by putting more shot on target. Remington helps their 00 buck stay rounder and more aerodynamic by packing the column with buffering: flexible grains of plastic which flatten under recoil so the lead shot doesn’t have to!

Take care that this is 3” ammo. It won’t work in shotguns with 3” chambers, or magazines that are only designed to hold 3” hulls. These shells also aren’t suitable for folks who might describe themselves as “recoil adverse.”
