This cartridge is only weak relative to the .22 LR (and basically every other round in existence). For a .22 Short, however, it’s perfectly normal. The 29 grain bullet’s advertised (subsonic) 1,080 fps muzzle velocity and 0.084 G1 ballistic coefficient stand for 65 ft lbs 25-yard striking energy, and for the following short-range trajectory as well: 0yds: -1.5” → 10yds: -0.6” → 20yds: -0.0” → 30yds: 0.2” → 40yds: 0.1” → 50yds: -0.3”.

The copper-plated round nose is not an expanding bullet. The right kind of shot placement will take good care of a pest or small game critter all the same (and by “take good care of,” we do mean exactly the opposite).
