Well built, but heavy
This thing looks great and is very well made. I have no complaints about the quality and overall design concept. However, as mentioned by others, the trigger mechanism was a pain to get in. I didn't have to file anything, like others did, but there is a very unique angle that you need to get the trigger to get into place. It took me almost 2 hours to finally figure it out. I was ready to box the stock up and send it back. I really don't want to ever remove and reinstall it again. BUT the biggest complaint is the weight. Without a loaded magazine and with a Pinty scope, laser, and flex sight mounted, my mini 14 weighs almost 11 lbs. Definitely not a gun to use for quick reaction defense. I am considering going back to the original stock or look at the ATI.

Very Happy with my purchase
New to shooting and wanted a reliable entry level 223/556 rifle. My locale restricts most AR 15 style so I bought a Ruger Mini 14. Liked it, but realized pretty soon that the standard stock was too small for me. Researched other stocks and settled on the Sparta. After giving the gun a deep clean, I installed the stock and all went well with minimal difficulty. Only installation issue was that two of the four screws that hold the rail to the body were damaged during the process. They were very tight coming out of the packaging; but I am sure my cheap tool bits didn't help. Never the less, I emailed ProMag and asked how to go about ordering some replacement screws as I was worried the damaged ones would only get worse with future removal for cleanings. Next day received an email that they were shipping both a new rail and replacement hardware. No request to fill out forms, pay for shipping or other minutiae. In my book that is just great service and a commitment to customer satisfaction!!

Some pros and cons
Pros: it looks great It is solidly built Great fit The cheek rise and the extending stock operate well Cons This thing is heavy, making my 181 serial number mini 14 total at close to 10 lbs without ammo If you have an older mini 14 (or any mini 14 that cannot have it's factory rear sight and base removed) you'll have to cut out a section of the aluminum rail or cut off your factory sight. You cannot use the factory sights on it The cheek riser is pretty minimal and the butt is not telescopic so it's range is limited All this said it's not a bad stock if you don't mind the issues, but i went back to my ATI tactical stock. It's not milspec but it has a telescopic folding stock, can be taken apart with a phillips screw driver, and allows the use of factory sights

I will probably get one o
I will probably get one of these. Just because of the aluminum full rail on the top.... Not a review just a comment to the previous reviewers. This is for the mini-14 Ranch-Rifle. The newer mini-14 that work in this stock start with a item number of 58XX. Another obvious trait of a Ranch Rifle is the machined scope mounts OVER the receiver. The reason for this is the Arachangel does now allow for vertical shell ejection.

I'm extremely pleased wit
I'm extremely pleased with this stock! I read reviews before I purchased it. When dropping in the trigger assy, I had to file out a small portion of the stock to slide it into the action.. It's tight but it will work! Fits only RUGER MINI 14 or Ruger Mini 30. It gives my gun a whole new look and feel. It adds a little more weight but it feels solid. I was a little worried about the small opening for round exiting. But works perfect! Great investment!

I, like others, thought this was a great feeling and well built stock. But, it took several hours of careful filing to even get the trigger assembly to slide in. I've set it aside 3 times from frustration and still have not been able to get the trigger assembly to slide into the correct position. The Rooks video makes it look like slicing bread, but if you notice there is a break when he is assembling the trigger. He must have got one of the good ones.

I really like how this stock looks and feels but I cannot get my Mini 30 trigger to fit no matter what I do and after one attempt of screwing in, one of the front screws can no longer be placed into it's spot.

In my opinion this is the best stock ever built for this platform. In fact this is my second stock the first one was on a 6.8 now I'm putting this one on my 223. The construction of it is absolutely five bullets and the options it gives you is probably the best too.My only gripe is that they could have giving you easier or pre-designated places to add picatinny rails. This is not a problem for me but could be for persons that don't have the tools or the knowledge to do so.I hope this helps? Protect the Second Amendment and God bless America.

This stock is incredibly
This stock is incredibly well made and looks great! CTD had it to my doorstep in 2 days, outstanding as usual. Now for the down side, it wouldn't fit my mini14 without modification. It says in the description that it won't fit tactical models, mine was too old to be a tactical version. What it should say is that it won't fit any factory scoped models. However, if you have a Dremel tool and don't cutting on the aluminum top (like I did) than this is not a problem. its also a good idea to use a Dremel or a file on the slot for the trigger block as it was really tight. Still a great product and yes I would recommend to a friend.

All I can say is AWESOME.
All I can say is AWESOME. I love it. It was easy to install and made my Mini 14 Tactical truly Tactical. Only draw back is the weight, but that just seems to add to more accurate shooting in my opinion!

I like the looks of the stock, but I wish they would give a little more info on which Ranch Rifles it will fit. Seeing as how mine is an older model, it will not work b/c my spent brass does not discharge from the side.

I read all about it and was looking forward to upgrading my Mini-14. The stock arrived and I stripped my gun to drop into the new stock. The directions state that the side tangs on the rear stock have to be modified to fit - more like cutting them off. I didn't want to damage the gun, so I sent it back. A little disappointing, but the folks at CTD hooked me up. The stock was well made and the top rail was all metal, which would give the whole thing strength. Oh, well.

Where do I start? This st
Where do I start? This stock transforms the entire look of the rifle. A definite head turner. Adds some weight but I'm not concerned. This stock, paired with some TAPCO GENII 30 round magazines and Magpul flip up sights, turns your ranch rifle into a battle rifle. I'm going to get a barrel strut and trigger job, then cut/thread the barrel for flash hider and call it complete.

This is the first stock I
This is the first stock I have found that has not felt or looked China made, and for good reason - IT'S NOT!! I had a few blemishes on the top aluminum rail in the finish. I really don't mind, since the gun will have more I'm sure soon. The heat shield needed minor modifying to fit, and for the price, it really shouldn't have been a problem you would think. It added a bit of weight, although the gun is not light to begin with, but not so much you wouldn't grow into it.

I read all the reviews on
I read all the reviews on this stock before buying it, and a good chunk of them were good. I would agree with them. IT DOES ADD A LOT OF WEIGHT to the gun. However, that makes the gun easier to shoot (especially for the Mini-30's .30 caliber bullet). It does take a little time to install. It is not a two minute drop in kit, but it is not overly difficult. I did not have to modify it to get it to fit my Mini-30. You definitely need some type of sights to add to the top. Your rifle sights will not be able to be used. Also, the kit did not include any tools, so you will have to provide them (screwdriver and some Allen wrenches). When I took it to the range, it worked flawlessly and I even had a few other shooters want to shoot it.

It does not come with a l
It does not come with a lower forearm heat shield. You must use not all but part of the heat shield from your existing forend. Going back to your existing stock could be problematic. Given that this is by far the most expensive Mini-14/30 stock Cheaper Than Dirt lists, that is inexcusable. ProMag should have provided a heat shield.I use it with my Mini-30 Ranch, and it would not fit. After many hours of grinding and fitting with a Dremel tool, I finally got it together (I had to relieve the area between the back of the trigger guard and the little spring loaded trigger guard filler). Again, that's inexcusable for an American product at this price.

Haven't shot with it yet
Haven't shot with it yet so it gets a 4. The build was straight forward, but I cheated and used a video from youtube as well. Makes the gun more comfortable and user friendly. I used it with a Mini-30. Would recommend to others.

The stock seems well made
The stock seems well made, but since I have the Tactical Mini-14 model (not the Ranch Rifle version), I couldn't use my factory heat shield with this stock. Time will tell if it will melt. I ordered several Tapco mags with this and they fit extremely tight and are very hard to put in. I may need to trim the mag well with a hand file. It does look cool though, and had no problems with the gun's functionality. Also, Ruger factory mags work flawlessly with this stock.

First off, I have to than
First off, I have to thank CTD for their super fast shipping. I received this stock in two days. The stock is the best tactical stock ever made for the Mini 14. Very sturdy feeling, with no flex. Installs fairly straight forward. Taking the heat shield out of your wood stock sucks, but it's not real hard to do. The only problem I had was removing my 581 Mini's rear sight. It had thread locker on it, and I twisted two Allen keys trying to get it off. I have not shot my rifle since the install, but I think live fire will just seal the deal for me!
