The FN 509’s standard magazine capacity is 17 rounds. But what if you live in a state or city which is adverse to the concept of self-defense, and are obliged to own magazines that hold no more than 10 rounds apiece? Well, in that case, you had better order something *exactly* like this 10-round magazine by ProMag.

ProMag dosn’t do anything odd when they construct a magazine. This one’s body is made of tough steel, which is (A) heat-treated to ensure it doesn’t deform during regular use or after being dropped, and (B) finished with black oxide, which doubly boosts performance by protecting against corrosion and reducing metal-on-metal friction during insertion/extraction. The mag’s spring is made of chrome silicone, and is also heat-treated to make certain it returns to form after having been left compressed for an extended span of time.

Need ammo for this American-made magazine? Great! We can help you out in that department, too!

Do the: ProMag FN 509 9mm Luger Steel Magazine 10 Rounds Black (https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/promag-fn-509-9mm-luger-steel-magazine-10-rounds-black/fc-708279016837.html) fit into and/or are they usable in a FN509 Compact? It is my understanding some magazines for the full size and medium frame FN509 require a sleeve. Does a sleeve come with the mag or does it work without it?
Answer: Hello Geoffrey! This FN 509 magazine will fit a FN 509 Compact. It will extend beyond the magazine well. It is usable in that state, although there is an increased risk of overinsertion (the primary issue a sleeve is intended to prevent). The mag does not include a sleeve. All of that being said, you're not really at risk of overinsertion if you only use the mag for target shooting. It could be a concern if you jostle the pistol around in the course of carrying it for protection, though.
