This cartridge’s Solid Base bullet is a soft point with a very thick basal layer of jacket. That feature protects the projectile’s boat tail from warping under the pressure of ignition, and also assists the bullet’s terminal performance by forcing wider and more immediate expansion following impact. The Solid Base’s jacket is extremely thin around its exposed lead tip, which helps the bullet mushroom wider if it strikes the quarry at a relatively far range.

It was Nosler’s own 24” long 1:12” twist barrel that produced this round’s advertised 2,930 fps muzzle velocity. The respected Oregonian manufacturer reports the bullet’s G1 BC at .232, which predicts this trajectory: 0yds: -1.5” → 50yds: 0.2” → 100yds: 0.0” → 150yds: -2.2” → 200yds: -6.9” → 250yds: -14.6”.
