DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU OWN A 500 JIC MODEL
Based on the available description I was under the impression that this heatshield was designed for my marinecoat 500 JIC cruiser. First, let me say that the method of securing it to the barrel is so poorly designed it's just sunning. The rear of the HS is a ring that is not adjustable and is so tight that it will scrape hard against your barrel just to get it into place, If I had a blued barrel instead of the marinecoat, it would have scraped the bluing off and ruined the finish on my barrel. On the front end, the HS forms a kind of clamp that you are suppose to put two screws through, and then tighten with nuts on the other side. Between the clamp and under the barrel is suppose to sit a plastic spacer with two holes for the screws to go through, except that the spacer jams up against the barrel lug where the magazine tube cap is mounted and the holes don't line up between the clamp and spacer, the only way to get them to line up is to push the HS so far back on the barrel that it would make re-inserting the barrel into the receiver impossible. Even if you could make that work, the HS clamp on the forward part is spaced apart so that the screws do not protrude on the other side. The rather brief instruction card says to use a vice or a C clamp to close the space and attach the nuts to the screws. For those who do not have either handy, installation is nearly impossible. I had to have a friend clamp down with all his strength on a Leatherman whole tried to screw the tiny nuts on to the ends of the barely protruding screws. It took over an hour and an awful lot of swearing to get just that part done because the nuts kept popping off and it would take forever to find them because they would pop off with some force. I am shocked and disappointed (and angry at having wasted my money on this) that Mossberg would put their label on such a product. An absolute engineering disaster. DO NOT BUY! Pros: NONE! Cons: Incredably poorly designed, DOES NOT FIT!

This shield will NOT fit
This shield will NOT fit the new Mossberg 590 7-Shot #50778. It is the same one listed on the Mossberg website. I called Mossberg and they did not even know ??? How is that? They still show it as working on all 590 guns. Cheaper was GREAT !!! They took care of me and after a few calls to Moss they finally said, 'Oh your right, it does not fit' But it's still up on their site. Lucky me I guess, no shield available for my gun yet.

I have a Mossberg 590A1 w
I have a Mossberg 590A1 with a heavy barrel and it does not fit. the barrel is too thick and the shield's front end and screws will never meet up. I jammed it on and it's pretty tight, so I guess I'll keep it, but it does not fit this shotgun.

This is a great heat shie
This is a great heat shield and it is made by Mossberg will fit any 500 or 590 but.. I have a 500 A 'Breacher' or 'Cruser' it still fits but not like yours will. If you have the same gun as me you might want to get a gun smith to install it.

This heat shield is great
This heat shield is great, it is an actual 'Mossberg' product. It went on without any issues, did not scratch my barrel at all and in fact looks great on my desert camo mossberg 500 persuader. FYI, you will need a 'C' clamp to compress the shield to fit the screws in, you will also need a 7/64 allen wrench and a 5/16 box wrench to install the srews.(both wrenches come in most gunsmithing home kits). I would recommend this product to anyone withh a mossberg. Thanks CTD!!!

Will this work on a Remington 870 18.5 barrel
Answer:
No. This is for Mossbergs.
Will this fit my Maverick 88 security?
Answer:
Yes, it will.
Will this fit a mossberg shockwave without having to modify it?
Answer:
No, this DOES NOT fit the 590 Shockwave "without modification". The barrel on the Shockwave is thicker than what this is designed for. You will have to spread the end with the bolt holes out in order to fit over the barrel. Then you'll have to find longer screws since the ones that ship with the shroud are too short after modification. How do I know? I have a 12ga 590 Shockwave and bought this shroud. First hand experience.
What's The length of this heat shield
Answer:
The overall length of the heat shield is 13.5" inches.
