The piece has a wire-reinforced backing where it contacts the forward strap point that makes it a "Three handed job" to adequately cinch the bag to your AR. That said, it appears - otherwise - to be well-thought out and well-built.

Would probably not buy this again
There is a double strap version of a brass catcher like this one. With the single strap it doesn't stay in place very well and spent cartridges get stuck as they are being ejected.

Not enough frame
Ive tried to use this a few times its hard to attach tight enough with a scope mounted. Even with it tight it still moves around alot. The mesh sags right out of the ejection port so it causes a few jams plus ive had it loose a few cases because it doesn't fit tight at the rear unless modified. It could be useful but might as well spend the extra money and buy the quick detach caldwell brass catcher

I got this for my Colt AR-15M4. It was a little hard to install it, but w/a little help from a flat tip, mad a lot of pushing into place it worked well.

works great with 5.56, not so good with russian .223. after a handful of rounds weighs down the bag it starts to interfere with brass ejection. Works fine with the Tavor as well, again better with 5.56.

You must wrap the velcro
You must wrap the velcro strap very tight in order for this to work correctly. Too loose and the bag will sag down and block the ejection port causing problems. I position the bag over the port and wrap the velcro strap as tight as I can, and I also empty the bag after catching 60 rnds instead of trying to see how full I can get it. Like my title says, this works for me, on my S&W M&P 15.

Have you ever tried to MAKE a brass catcher? I tried once and it's not that easy. This one works a lot better and looks good too. I put about sixty .223 cases in mine while firing my AR-15 today and it still had room for more. The 'mouth' of the brass catcher is framed by a stiff wire inside black fabric. It fits against the receiver of your rifle. I noticed it tends to sag a bit at the back because it is only supported via the Velcro strap at the front, so I put the back of the wire frame against the scope mounting nut on my rifle and problem solved. That's the only flaw in the design and it's easily solved. This is a good accessory.

Doesn't quite fit securely enough around the grip, as it's secured only by a single strip of Velcro. Nothing supports the rear and it will slip down over the ejection port during firing. The opening is not quite large enough and causes ejecting rounds to jam, causing a misfeed on the next round. Had to stop using because of the constant jams from blocked ejection.

Bought this despite the reviews. It works fine, didn't have to add anything or modify, not even bend the metal. I almost think I have an updated version or something. Put about 100 rounds through my Colt over the weekend and had no problems. Beats running around to pick up brass on the ground.

I saw some of the reviews panning this accessory, but figured I'd take the gamble. Yes, in order to get the tight fit I wanted, I had to a.) bend the rear wire a bit to fit the contours of my rifle, and b.) install a pair of spacers and a rubberized washer on my riser in order to create a 'clamp' holding the rear of the bag snugly against my AR's upper receiver. Total investment to 'fix' the 'problems' everyone cried about: 5 minutes of time, and less than a buck in material. Now it works like a champ. Everyone giving this part sub-par ratings needs to either strap up or call the waaa-mbulance. When buying your kit, anyone worth his salt knows you can have it a.) perfect, b.) readily available, or c.) affordable. Pick one. Hit two and you're lucky. For the price, this is a great little accessory. I leave no brass behind. If that's an idea you like, this'll get the job done.

There honestly is no hook
There honestly is no hook.... I wanted this to make it easier to collect my brass. Stock it's terrible and feels like a waste of money. With some modding it's great. I had to make an insert with some hard plastic and wrapped it with gaff tape. It's better then ducting tape for this purpose. Resin instead of a glue, rubber instead of a plastic, etc. Then a computer zip tie. It's made for warm temp, comes undone, heavy compared to normal zip ties. With these mods it held it on to the receiver. When you leave it the weight of the brass pulls it down. Or it will slide off and the brass will still go everywhere. This pic is a lie. That much brass would have the hook and bag dragging past the handle. But it's better the picking up the brass or bothering to collect it all.

The cheesy wire frame fit
The cheesy wire frame fits poorly to the ejection port with a big gap in between, and it doesn't stay in place very long with any practical use. I would send it back to the store, but I bent the wire all up by trying to get it to fit snugly. I wasted my time and my money on this POC.

Only attaches on one side
Only attaches on one side of basket (for obvious reasons) which requires adjustment often. Works great from bench... hard to move with since it gets knocked around easily. Only holds about 20-30 rounds before it is too heavy to stay up. Causes ejection problems once it starts to slide down. Painful, but works well if you really, really want to keep the brass.

Works okay, if your a bench shooter you will be happy enough, if you move around or stand at the range be prepared to adjust frequently. I have seen them for less and would go that route or just zip tie a ziplock bag on if I had to do it again.

This product is of good construction. I took an old GI Brown t-shirt and lined (sew) the inside. I do not understand why they used see-through mesh. I am a (tactical shooter) and do not want the shinny brass to be seen. After adding a non-see through liner, I used woodland spray paint to conceal this product. This product is worth the money as is.I recommend the manufactorer update the product and offer it in MultiCam, etc. If you are using a VLTOR or REPER upper, may require modification. I do not recommend this for assalting, only target or tactical shooting... as the bag will fill up too soon.

The opening into the bag
The opening into the bag is too small and requires near perfect alignment to not cause spent shells to fail to eject. Very difficult to use on a range which requires weapons to be opened wirh mags removed during target changing times. I seldom get more than about 10 spent casings to eject properly without a jam and then the bag is in the way to clear.

I purchaed one of these a few months ago, used it for the first time today on my AR-15. It did exactly what it was bought to do - stayed in place without any movement and caught the brass of every round I fired. A friend with me became a believer and likely will obtain one for himself.

I put this onto my Alexan
I put this onto my Alexander Arms 50 Beowulf and it worked just fine at the range. The fatter quad-rail put the catch bag into perfect alignment and the velcro straps grip the edges of the quad-rails so it doesn't slip around. I didn't try to see how many empty cases it held, but I fired three 8 round mags and two 2 round mags (28) before I had a magazine failure and I emptied the bag so that I could separate the upper & lower to correct the problem. The bag was about half full, so I'd guess that it will easily hold about 50 of these fat fifties. Your results may vary. Upon resuming shooting, I realized I forgot to close the zipper on the bag when a hot empty rolled onto my arm. Ouch! Lesson: keep the bag zipper closed while benchresting. Even if it requires a little tweaking as other reviewers have claimed, for the price (compared to the price of the .50 Beowulf brass) this item is essential.

It works but with problems. I did not care for this. I had problems with it slipping down and not staying straight. I just did not care for this at all. Save your money, it looks cool but does not work all that well.

Tried out the brass catch
Tried out the brass catcher on my DPMS AP4 today. Its ok, it has to be adjusted just right in order to catch the shells. After tweaking and repositioning it started doing what its suppose to do. If the shells don't make it into the bag they fall down by your feet. Had a couple land on my hand after being ejected and not going into the bag (ouch). Its okay for 20 bucks, but it could be better. Recommended? Split on this one.

This thing was easy to put on and it keeps your brass from flying all over the place. I shot through a 30 round magazine and all 30 shells were right at my feet, not scattered all over the yard and drive way. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody who cares about finding their brass.

I bought one of these and modified it to fit my remington 740 30-06. It works great for it's intended purpose, and I don't have to chase my brass anymore. If you have some ingenuity and creativity, it isn't hard at all to make this work. I can put 20-30 rounds into it before emptying. For those that say this doesn't work, you have just put some effort into making it effective.

I took this catcher to the range for the first time yesterday. It works very well. I was emptying after every 30 round clip, I figured since I'm stopping anyway. So I don't know how many it can handle. Did not take too long to figure a way to keep opening clear. I had no problems w/ spent cases' because they were going swish, nothing but net! Glad I picked this item up. Will recommend this.

This is a great accessory. There is very good front attachment support, but the rear tends to stay open and foul up operation, i.e. lose brass. Simple to fix.TIP:In the back section, punch two small holes into the thick fabric next to the wire frame with a paper hole-puncher (or ice pick or knife), then insert two short or long pony-tail holders -- stolen from your daughter's drawer, or bought for 99 cents from a beauty supply-- insert them into the small holes and loop them to secure them in place. Then pull the pony-tail holders and wrap them around any available 'hook' such as your forward assist assembly, or over your rail and hooked to a riser knob, or even a side focus knob on a scope. Be patient and creative and you'll have it snug and secure. Oh, yeah, I stole the black ones so they would match the catcher, but red ones or silver one might look cool.

As mentioned in other reviews the bag does not stay in place well. It is ok for the range. It could really use some modifications at the rear of the bag and top for anchor points. It does save some time from searching the range for brass, so its ok in my book.

This works great. It doesn't catch every round, but the five or so that hit the ground out of a 30 round clip are always right below you. So even when the apparatus fails, it prevents the brass from being launched several feet away where it is harder to find.

This is a good product. The only time it failed me was when recoil let the strap rotate, causing a gap. It easily caught 95% of the brass and would have caught all of it if I hadn't let it sag. It also fit my Mac-11 with fake silencer and performed flawlessly. I think it would easily work on many other firearms. If you shoot as much as I do, it is well worth it. This thing must have, saved me 10-15 minutes easy last trip.

I was needing one for the range. I have not shot this yet however I am left handed and this product does not hinder my vision. It seems to be well built, but 200 rounds, I will not try that. I'll empty it after 30 rounds with each mag change. Great price and shipping. Ordered Monday and holding it Tuesday by noon. I wish all companys did that.

I have this and made my own endoskeleton for it, to support the bag further out from the weapon, and it works flawlessly now. Take a coat hanger and make a 3-D frame, think of it as two lowecase h's connected by a stick at one end. I have no problems with this item now, and as long as you cinch the strap around your delta ring really good, you can nearly fill the bag with brass before having any trouble. Only four stars because Ihad to make my own support frame.

I use this at the range (Colt AR), mostly from a static platform (i.e. I'm not moving). It snags 98% of the brass, and the rest just drops down - it's right there for me to pickup. I have one of the hard plastic-type traps for my AK and it catches everything, but is a bear to put on and has to be removed to charge the gun.

I picked one of these up
I picked one of these up at a gun show. May not be the same brand but looks identical. As long as you take 3 seconds to unfold the bag and puff it out away from the rifle, it should catch everything thrown at it. We only put about 30 rnds through to try it out, but it worked way better than several of these reviews said it would. I'm very pleased that I bought this b/c we shoot in a field with higher grass. Only wish I would have bought it when I got my AR-15.

I'm not sure what problems some reviewers had with this item but I love it! It attaches in seconds and easily catches 99% of the brass from my rifles. If you reload, this is a must.

First of all I'd like to say this device does exactly what ya think it would do. It does catch the brass, if ya attach it correctly so the ejection port is properly covered, and it does save my back. I'm disabled so bending over ain't exactly a good thing for me. This brass catcher is worht the money and the range where I shoot, well some folk frown on brass being tossed on the ground. But they shoot 22 rifles, ya know those Ruger 10/22's, and leave their brass - It's a personal problem to me.

I bought this brass catch
I bought this brass catcher the same time as I bought my AR. It's not perfect but with a little work it's as good as they get. If you have problems with the mouth of the bag not opening up enough and holding brass at the ejection port cut down a 3' plastic rain gutter and put it in the top of the bag at the ejection port. I did this and haven't had a problem since. Half the fun of shooting and reloading is coming up with unique solutions to odd problems.

Used the bag at the range. I caught most of the spent rounds but missed a few. Better than chasing brass around the range. Did 'hold back' a couple of spent rounds and they got caught by the bolt and the neck was smashed. Still better than chasing brass or hunting for it.

This product works..I used with my Rock River 6.8 and my 223 AR'S.It wouldn't catch every casing about 2 every 50 rounds. Usually the first or second fired, but for the money it was well worth it. It will save you alot of time from having to pick up brass off the ground at the range.

I have one of these and, unfortunately, I have to say it is a poor design. As some people have already said, it does not seal properly around the cartridge ejection port and, consequently, many rounds fall to the ground instead of in the bag. And that's sitting at a bench at the range! If I had to carry it around I dare say most rounds would fall to the ground. The hard plastic version found on other sites is a much better choice but is also has it's drawbacks. Empty shells rattle around in it and you sound like a rattle running around with it on your gun. The best catcher I ever used was stolen along with my range bag. It was a hard plastic top with a mesh bag attached. The bag was mounted on a drawer mechanism so you could quickly pull the back off to empty it and quickly reinstall it. Unfortunately my version was made for the ar with the carrying handle and as that version of the ar has become less popular this catcher has disappeared from gun shows and shops lately. I cannot find one anywhere. It was absolutely the best catcher I ever used.

I have to agree with almost all of the reviews here. I've had it not work on some trips to the range and 75% of the brass end up on the ground or causing a jam and on other trips it's flawless. If it causes problems with the first mag or two now, I just take it off. Not bad for the price. I'm thinking about buying the hard plastic brass catcher I've seen on other sites but until then this one works better than picking them up off the ground.

No problems with this catcher. 30 and 40 round clips just fly into the bag or leave the zipper open for a neat pile on the bench. I did have one small nylon string (theres for the outer zipper) stick a but on one hot casing. Cut out the 4 or 5 leftover threads and all brass is clean and ready to go home with you.I think the others that had problems must not have put the strap on tight cause I love the way this thing works.JUST WHAT i NEEDED !!!! Buying a second for my brother so he can give me his brass as well .

Save your money. My first trip to the range required constant adjustment and 2/3 the brass was missed, and the few id did catch ended up causing jams. I am certain with enough modification and tinkering it will work ok. Just don't expect 'plug-n-play'...but at least the cost wasn't massively high for learning this lesson.

There are no perfect bras
There are no perfect brass catchers out there but this one is as good as it gets for the price. I am getting ready to order my second one because I want to modify it a bit. As for jamming the action, simply jiggle the bag after a few shots or tilt the AR to the right and shake. If you are shooting full auto or rapid semi- then no brass catcher will satisfy you. This is a great product.HINT: This is for the manufacturer as well. I took my time and slit a small hole in the center of the tough material on the rear edge of the catcher which wraps around the wire. I then took a pony tail holder from my daughter -- it is nothing but a braided rubber band but tough -- and slipped it through the slit and looped it like a knot. I then pulled the band and wrapped it around the most convenient hookable item, such as the forward assist handle, or over the rail and under my scope to a scope knob or something. This backward tension kept the catcher from sagging, etc. I am now going to try to make two slits, one each at the top and bottom rear corners of the fabric so that it will give me two bands to fasten -- one of the forward assist and one somewhere on the other side of the rifle. I am also going to experiment with other type of elastic fasteners of different lengths.

I took the catcher with me to the range. It only holds to my AR by a single strap. So long as you don't move the gun off of the bag it works ok. If the gun is moved, I have to make sure to reset the bag height as it has a tendency to slip too low and cause ejection problems. Also.. helps to empty the bag after around 10 shells, as the weight tends to pull the bag low. Not a bad product. The shell catcher has paid for itself quickly at the current cost of brass. Just not made for people with little patience.

I recently started reload
I recently started reloading 223 rounds for my AR-15. I used to set up nets at the range to collect my brass or walk around picking up my spent brass out in the desert. But with this brass catcher, collecting my used brass is a cinch. I just fasten it to my rifle and shoot. No jamming or any problems using this brass catcher. It will hold 30 pieces of brass without a problem. I am really glad that I bought it.

First time on, worked gre
First time on, worked great. Caught all the brass, it all fell out of the way in the net. Everytime afterward, brass would build up right at the port. Eventually fell back into chamber and jammed. Found that I would have to jiggle and clear the port every 4 or 5 shots to be troublefree. Still helps keep the brass localized, but I will have to figure out a better way to mount it and make it more reliable. Still a good deal for the price.

Complete waste of money.
Complete waste of money. Took it prairie dog hunting in S.D. Ended up picking up more brass than it caught. When I wasn't picking it up, it was jamming up. Only good thing about it was it caused the brass to fall closer to my rifle. I might try the hard case catcher next time.

I used this on my bushmas
I used this on my bushmaster and it fit pretty well. The only problem is it reflected the shells back toward to action and caused a jam every fourth or fifth shot. I had to take it off to continue shooting. I wouldn't recommend this product.

I handload all my ammo so when I shoot my AR-15 I used to set my range bag up to block the cases so they wouldnuFFFDt hit the ground when shooting off the bench. Now with the brass catcher I can shoot standing without fear of my shell casings hitting the concrete. The zippered bottom works and it will hold more than 30 spent cases in the bag. I can use it on my carry handle AR and my flattop because it straps to the forearm.
