BUY EXTRA MAGAZINES!
I've owned an M1 Carbine made by Kahr Arms/Auto Ordnance for 3 years. This was a primary weapon in Korea and the guys back then always drew an extra magazine when getting ammo. These things are VERY cheaply made so get 4 or 5! The magazines are the weak point of this weapon. I bought a total of 8 of these 30 round mags and 6, 20 round mags. In 3 years two 30 round mags and two 20 round mags became unusable.
