Answer: Hello Charlie! This magazine is designed for a full-size (i.e. Government; 5" barrel) 1911. It'll fit a Commander (4.25" barrel) as well. It'll fit more compact models, but it'd extend past the magazine well and pose an increased risk of overinsertion that way. Short story: if your 1911's a Gov't or Commander, this mag'll function as intended.
