The embargo on Russian-made ammunition continues on at the time of writing. We don’t know when it’s going to end. We don’t have a crystal ball. But what we do know is comforting all the same: Kaiser’s steel-cased 7.62x39 ammo comes from Turkey, so you can still save big dough on target ammo for your AK-47 or SKS rifle.

Steel cases are cheaper than brass ones. That’s their primary upside (that you can pick them up off the ground using a magnet is another, lesser upside). Steel cases aren’t reloadable, but that’s of no concern to the non-handloader. This ammo’s cases are special because they are lacquered for added protection against tarnishing. It’s not waterproofing by any measure, but it still helps.

This ammo’s noncorrosive. It’s also magnetic – but not solely because its cases are made of steel. The 123 grain full metal jacket has a “bimetal” jacket, which is nearly entirely made out of steel save for the extremely thin copper wash it wears to improve its cosmetic appearance.
