Great ear pro
I bought these from a different company years ago and I love them. I got them for using power tools because I kept breaking the cheap ones about once a year and I wanted something that might hold up better. The built in microphones work really well, the auxiliary head phone feature doesn't work that well when using gas powered equipment, and mine have held up perfectly for over 6 years. Pros: Durability, microphones, decibel reduction Cons: Auxiliary input is not very loud

Good Hearing Protection
Received order fairly quickly as usual. The earmuffs included instructions that were adequate to operate them. I noticed one reviewer said that they were not adjustable. The instructions provided how to do just that. However, there is not a lot of adjustment available. Have only been able to use them with snow blower, leaf blower and lawnmower. and quite satisfied with them.Hope to have good weather to make it out to the range soon.

Good purchase
You know how in life you have a lot of things you bought and wish you never did? And then you have those few items that you bought, found them to be super high quality, and you love them to this day and swear by them (think Suburban, Glock, Yamaha, etc)? These headphones are in that second category of awesome things for me so far. I have used them for a couple seasons of hunting and they just perform. Well worth the money.

Good Hearing Protection
The headset works well to drown out the sound of gunfire. My only complaint is the sound volume using your phone or other auxiliary device is very low.

Everything You'll Need
I'm in the military and I've gotten the chance to try out the Peltor's that operator's use during combat. Minus the advanced radio communication they have, these work just as well. I've worn these while firing the M2 .50 cal and they worked like a charm. They can really amplify the sound you need to hear, like your soldiers next to you, while blocking out the harmful sounds of the weapons. Pros: Amplifies unharmful sounds

Better than expected.
Usually I'm someone who tries to get the very best I possibly can in terms of 'protective equipment', even if it means having to save up the cash to do so. Our ears & eyes essentially are too valuable & too easily damaged to take a chance on whatever is cheap or on sale. These came very highly recommended by someone I respect, so I first borrowed some, and decided to get my own. Certainly you can spend MUCH more money on whatever the 'Tommy Tactical' types are sporting, but in terms of quality you would be hard pressed to find better quality ear pro than these. Especially for the price. Very comfortable, and easily adjustable. Effective at cancelling the report of fire while also boosting the volume (to the desired level) of conversations or commands of a range safety officer for example. While not bulky at all, they accommodate nearly any ear plugs you might have if you want to 'double up' when working around explosives or larger caliber weapons (ex: .50 BMG) that hardly ANY commercial ear pro can truly mitigate. With the included cables you can even connect to whatever electronic device you want or need to, as in MP3 players of your perhaps your phone. Over all an excellent means of ear pro, and unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars more you won't find anything superior. There are always lower prices you can find on different ear pro models, but always remember that famous axiom - 'you always get what you pay for'. I'm usually not one to strongly promote or review a product that I've used. However the folks at Howard Leight really have done the proverbially impossible. They've made an extremely effective product, that honestly they could charge much more for. ...I hope no one tells them I said that. Pros: Easy To Adjust

These are all I use at the range. The auto-off feature saves me $$ in batteries because i do forget to turn them off occasionally. If you are looking for quality budget e-muffs that just work, look no further. Happy Shooting!

These are the absolute best solution available for the price! They 'reduce the volume' of loud noises so you still hear everything, just at a safe level. Some other brands 'turn off' the sound when it is too loud so you miss hearing the conversation if there are load noises (shots fired) in the background. Highly Recommend!

I ordered 2 of these head
I ordered 2 of these head sets. One did not function in one ear. CTD sent me a return shipping label and am waiting for another pair. Friendly and helpful as always. The pair that did work blocks out noise that is to high at work rivet guns, drill motors, pneumatics, and at the range. It amplifies all noise around you which can be rather annoying. Im listing to the loud fan even now.The audio input cord is a little short and feels easy to break. But plays audio very well. I will buy more.

I have recently purchased
I have recently purchased these earmuffs for two reasons. 1) As an armed Security Patrol Officer, I hit the range a lot. and these just flat work, in STEREO!! For range commands they don't let me miss anything. As well as muffling the gunfire 2)When I have to clear a building in the middle of the night I plug in our radio to these and can communicate with other Officers and I can hear their responses without giving away my position, PLUS, when I turn them up and can hear better than my normal hearing,in stereo. Good Buy, Good Quality.

Received these muffs Frid
Received these muffs Friday, took to range this morning. They performed great, better than expected for the price.Only reason for a 4 rating, is they aren't adjustable, would be better, if headband were adjustable, minor drawback, completely satisfied with these overall.

I was a bit leery to use
I was a bit leery to use these for the first time. If they failed to function, I was seriously going to pay for it in temporary (possibly permanent) hearing loss. But to my delight, they do indeed muffle the bullet sound blast, but as was stated in the previous review, they stop muffling the sound immediately after that blast so you will hear the echo and any sound that doesn't meet the headphone's threshold (user adjusted). To overcome this, I would set the volume lower if I were at the range where rounds were being fired from multiple guns. You can completely turn the sound amplification off so they function just as normal muffs. The coolest function is the fact that they can over amplify sounds greater than what the normal human ear can hear in most cases. I took these hunting and was sitting in the woods and could hear the interstate highway, which was over 5 miles away, like it was just a football field away. I could hear birds chirping all over the forest that I couldn't hear if I removed the muffs. And best of all, I could hear the deer coming from a long way off. Side benefit: they'll keep your ears warm when you're out in the woods on a cold day. I would highly recommend these for anybody who is going to the range and especially for hunting.

This product is comfortab
This product is comfortable, has great control knob placement, and is easy to use overall. The main issue is that they amplify anything they don't block out. Anything that doesn't hit the decibel level to be cut off gets amplified. So, you can amplify noises which are loud, but not loud enough to be cut off, but are now louder because these things amplify them. Not a bad set of muffs, just know there is a down side to consider. It's kind of cool that they can amplify sounds you wouldn't normally hear.

These are great! From the electronics to the comfort. They pack real nice in my range bag. And the color? if that's a factor is much darker than the photo...I have ordered an extra pair to have for those who come to the range with me. Get a pair for spare and It will become your first choice. Oh and it has a mini jack for your Ipod....

I was searching for inexpensive electronic earmufs and I found it when I bought these. I usually read these reviews before buying products like this and the great things customers had to say about this product convinced me. I was glad to see that they were a darker green unlike the lighter green that appears on the display. Oh and by the way when you add shipping and all ... this place truly is the cheapest place to buy them, believe me I looked...

Got hooked on electronic
Got hooked on electronic hearing protection while at the range and was borrowed a different brand to try. The pair I was loaned where from a national chain and their brand, 'so how much' I asked. Guy said he paid $200 on sale. Then these were recommended from a shooting website I frequent so I thought what the hay, I'll send 'em back if there no good. Well these are spectacular, work almost identical to the pair borrowed and 1/4 the $, they even have a plug-in for mp3's to plug into to use when mowing or whatever. Don't wait get 'em now!!!!!!!!!!

My son and I shoot once a week. These earmufs, have made it so we can carry on a normal conversation even at the range. We learned early on that they work best with an ear plug and turn the volume up a tad. When folded they fit in almost any pocket. I have experienced zero problems, but my son found his shooting glasses with thicker temples where uncomfortable but thinner temples where a non-issue. What a deal for the price.

I have owned, used or have been issued almost every major brand of electronic earmuff. These are by far the best for the money. I liked them so much that I GAVE my band new Peltors to another shooter. They are comfortable and slim. It is also extremely easy to replace the batteries. Seem to be well built and do not have a small or protruding switch. They are also very comfortable. It also has a jack input, which could be handy. Overall I'm very impressed and have since ordered a second pair for my wife. Thanks for offering such a great product at a reasonable price.

These are not as good as
These are not as good as they could have been. Each muffle has a rigid approach to the side of the head, unflexible that is, making a glitch at the low rear where sound can come in to one's ear. The area covering the ear is too small too, and apart from that they don't muffle well enough, being that they are poorly padded. They are rated 22dB on the box but my old plain earmuffs, rated 21dB, are much more quiet. The sound picked up by the two mics is good, but when the muffling comes on it's not on long enough. I'd like to see a second of dead quietness from the electronics, not a fraction of a second, letting part of the disturbing noise in. The jack for CD and MP3 has a hum to it when connected. These mufflers are clearly NOT as good as they could have been. But reading about the others, what should I have bought?

These Earmufs are fantast
These Earmufs are fantastic, and a great value. I have tried cheap ones and pricey ones but like these the best. Electronically excellent plus they are low profile and do not interferre with my rifles or shotgun stocks.Highly recommended

Will they fit under an ACH/ LEVEL IIIA helmet?
Answer: Yes they will.
Can I use these with other kinds of loud noises (e.g. power tools, lawn mowers), in addition to gun noise, or do they only work with brief impulse noise. Thanks.
Answer: I use them for power tools and engine noise too.
I see that there is an aux input for an "ipod" - I assume that means roughly any audio source. My question is: does it amplify ambient sounds while also being used with an "ipod?"
Answer: No. If you have an external audio device plugged in it will not amplify ambient noise.
How do you get the battery's in
Answer: On the outside of the ear muff there is a plastic battery cap that slides off. This unit requires two AAA batteries.
