The .30-06 Springfield did splendidly by Americans during the World Wars. It is now content to help them harvest venison all across the land – including in places where lead bullets aren’t allowed.

This Hornady Superformance cartridge features a very special 165 grain bullet. It’s the Copper alloy eXpanding, which is made of two non-lead components:
• A monolithic body, which improves accuracy through the powers of its flawless weight distribution and optimum groove geometry, and which also promotes deeper penetration by securing no less than 95% weight retention
• A Heat Shield tip, which uses Hornady’s advanced Drag Variability Reduction Technology to reduce dispersion and drag variation, and which is made of polymer that hot air friction can’t deform
The CX is *so* aerodynamic that it exhibits a most impressive .440 G1 ballistic coefficient; sufficient to secure around 63% kinetic energy retention at 300 yards.

What makes Hornady’s Superformance round special isn’t its bullet, though. It’s its propellant, which boosts muzzle velocity by as much as 200 fps – but not at the cost of unsafe chamber pressure, or loss of accuracy, or even added recoil. Load it in anything but an M1 Garand and you’ll be hunting on easy street!
