Every hunter aspires for the same thing: the fastest possible kill, with the fewest possible trigger squeezes. It’s humane. It’s the ultimate demonstration of skill. It’s also decidedly easier when you choose to hunt with Hornady’s most technologically advanced hunting bullet to date.
This 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge is loaded with Hornady’s ELD-X. Like the match grade ELD bullet that predated it, the ELD-X demonstrates the low-drag performance of the Heat Shield: a polymer tip which keeps its sleek profile regardless of how violently aerodynamic friction treats it.
The Heat Shield tip is backed by the concentric secant ogive profile AMP jacket and boat tail the ELD-X needs in order to exhibit .625 G1/.315 G7 BC (in conjunction with a 24” test barrel, which Hornady used to record this round’s 2,700 fps muzzle velocity).
The ELD-X’s jacket is embedded into its core by an InterLock ring. This keeps the bullet’s two components soundly attached to one another, such that collision within 400 yards should not rob it of more than half of its weight. At farther distances, the ELD-X consistently retains as much as 90% of its weight – while simultaneously delivering the rapid terminal expansion which quickly shocks large game into submission.
Loaded in Nebraska with reusable brass and temperature-stable propellant.
