It’s not always easy finding the correct .30-06 Springfield ammunition for an M1 Garand. You *have* to specifically use M2 ball, or else you risk inflicting tragic (and expensive) damage to the war relic’s operating rod.

A modern commercial .30-06 hunting load can theoretically be loaded to an M1-safe chamber pressure of 50,000 psi (60,000 psi being maximum pressure allowed by contemporary industry standards). But if you really want to play it safe, then you gotta go with proper M2 ball – just like what Hornady has made for you here.

This round’s loaded with a 150 grain full metal jacket bullet, which its weaker propellant charge accelerates to a muzzle velocity of 2,740 fps (out of a 24” barrel). You may not notice any difference in performance, although the M2 ball’s free recoil energy is objectively weaker – one reason why you may choose this ammo for any other .30-06 rifle, which it is certainly safe for.
