Got a 10mm Auto lever-action rifle? Then you *could* run just about any old ammo through it. But if you’re hunting – or leisurely picking off whichever stray yotes you happen across – then you really ought to go with the best.
This is Hornady’s cleverly named LEVERevolution ammo, which is optimized for precisely the type of firearm action you imagine to be. Its FTX bullet is unique among most pistol bullets for having a polymer tip that extends past its nose cavity. That’s the Flex Tip, which makes the FTX far more streamlined than any JHP can be. True to its name, the Flex Tip is also soft – the reason why it won’t ignite whichever primer it touches inside a tubular magazine.
When impact mashes the supple Flex Tip into the FTX’s nose cavity, it causes massive expansion. It doesn’t cause excessive core/jacket separation, however, as the FTX includes an InterLock band to help its two metallic components remain more intact.
Hornady doesn’t report the test barrel length they used to record this round’s 1,220 fps muzzle velocity. Ballistic data are unavailable at the time of writing.
