The supply of cheap steel-cased 7.62x39mm out of Russia is, at the time of writing, still not incoming. But that’s alright! Hornady has stepped up to make sure AK and SKS enthusiasts are still rolling in the ammo they need to do their thing.

Hornady loads this ammo to SAAMI specifications – not C.I.P., like a Russian manufacturer would – although it is no less suitable for foreign-made firearms. In true American fashion, its 123 grain full metal jackets are made without steel. Fire them at ranges which won’t have magnetic ammo and you’ll be fine. Fire them at varmints if you prefer. There’ll be no terminal expansion, but .28 ounces of supersonic lead and copper will do the trick regardless.

This round has an *extremely* normal G1 ballistic coefficient of .266, which can be interpreted as meaning its bullet conserves 56% kinetic energy at 200 yards; 23% at 500.
