Would you like to shoot targets with the same kind of 5.56x45mm ammunition you would find at any U.S. Army rifle range? Then Hornady Frontier is a must-buy. This M193 spec ammunition was loaded on Hornady’s behalf by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant: the government’s largest ammo factory, which produces over 1 billion rounds each year in Independence, MO.

In true M193 form, this cartridge is loaded with a 55 grain full metal jacket. Hornady’s own steel-free FMJ is set to exit a 20” barrel at 3,240 fps muzzle velocity. Hornady places the round’s G1 BC at .243, which equals approximately 744 ft lbs striking energy at 200 yards, with -7.2” drop 100 yards farther downrange (assuming 1.5” sights).

This ammo is new – not surplus – with noncorrosive Boxer primers. Lake City’s brass cases aren’t reloaded. They weren’t polished at the factory, and are therefore still discolored where they were annealed (i.e. heat-treated) for added reliability.
