Looking for the kind of 223 Rem you can enjoy (and afford to fire) all day? Not a great fan of purchasing budget-friendly range loads that were made overseas? Then Hornady of Nebraska offers just the Frontier ammunition you’re after!
This ammo is loaded with absolutely normal full metal jacket projectiles. At 55 grains, they are light enough to hit 3,240 fps velocity upon clearing Hornady’s own 24” test barrel. Thanks to their boat tails, they are aerodynamically efficient enough to achieve .243 G1 ballistic coefficient in flight. If your own barrel measures 24”, then you can anticipate the following 300-yard trajectory: 0yds: -1.5” → 100yds: 3.8” → 200yds: 4.8” → 300yds: 0.0” → 400yds: -12.6” → 500yds: -35.7” → 600yds: -73.7”.
Hornady’s FMJBT does not contain steel. Place it next to a magnet, and note with great interest when nothing happens. The FMJBT may fragment after impact with soft tissue at close range, but it cannot expand. Its jacket’s cannelure keeps the projectile firmly seated in the case mouth, and less likely to shift under normal recoil.
Hornady does not reload previously fired cases. This ammo’s are new, brass, and reloadable. Their “scorched” appearance merely indicates that they were strengthened correctly via factory heat treatment.
