This is an extremely specialized piece of hardware. It’s something the vast majority of handloaders have no use for, let alone normal shooters. This is the seating stem you need if you’re using a Hornady Custom Grade die to handload .338 caliber 230 grain ELD-X bullets – full stop.
To rephrase, unless you’re loading .338 Lapua Magnum, .338 Remington Ultra Magnum, .338-378 Weatherby Magnum, or some other similar .338 caliber ammunition with 230gr ELD-X projectiles – *and you are using a Hornady Custom Grade die for the job* – then you have absolutely zero use for this high-quality seating stem.
We obviously don’t expect to sell several millions of these seating stems, but we expect the handloaders who *do* order them to be fully satisfied. Hornady makes excellent handloading equipment. They owe their very existence to the handloaders they were originally founded to serve, and they exercise incredibly tight control over their products’ quality.
