The Copper alloy eXpanding (CX) is essentially Hornady’s answer to the Barnes Tipped Triple-Shock X (TTSX). It too is made entirely out of the material it is named after (with the exception of its heat-proof Heat Shield polymer tip), and therefore compliant with various places’ lead bullet bans, remarkably clean shooting, equally well balanced, and tough enough to lose no more than one-twentieth of its weight after impact.

The CX’s low mass and high velocity grant it a G1 ballistic coefficient of .312 – sufficient to ensure quadruple-digit striking energy, in ft lbs, within ranges out to around 100 yards (assuming a 16” or longer barrel). And when it connects, the CX uses its hard tip and deep nose cavity to supply rapid, lethal expansion.
