Until recently, you could only find ball ammo for your .25 ACP. Now, several manufacturers have come out with a defensive .25 ACP round. When my granddaughter expressed an interest in my Beretta Jetfire, I thought IuFFFDd better check out what's available. I tested HornadyuFFFDs XTP, SpeeruFFFDs Gold Dot, and WinchesteruFFFDs Super-X Expanding Point. I fired three rounds of each through four layers of denim into ballistic gel. First off, all had good penetration, at 4uFFFD4.5' (ball ammo - Magtech and Fiocchi - penetrated 5uFFFD5.5'). The Winchester didnuFFFDt mushroom. Maybe it needs bone, or something else, to get that nylon ball to push back into the bullet cavity. The Gold Dot only expanded out to .250', although one petal on one bullet began to peel back, resulting in a .259'. All three XTP rounds expanded. Two were uFFFDclassicuFFFD mushrooms, peeling back to .329uFFFD and .366uFFFD, respectively. Although my granddaughter actually liked my M&P .40 better (whew!), if you want to carry a .25 ACP pocket/vest pistol, you currently wonuFFFDt find a better defensive round than this Hornady XTP to run through it.

I was told some older firearms wouldn't take the newer HP rounds, but this Colt (Vest Pocket) .25 auto, has no problems with this ammo. I've been looking for a good hollow point round for my Colt, and found it with Hornady XTP HP's! CTD got this ammo to me fast (as always), thanks CTD!

This is the best ammo I've used in my .25. Ive tried just about everything. Besides the Fiocchi HP ammo which uses Hornady bullets anyway - this is one of the few HP .25s available. I know .25 auto is one of the worst rounds fo various reasons. But if u have a .25 this ammo will improve accuracy, better penetration, smooth feeding and ejection and they seem to be the hottest loads I put through it. I also wrote a review for the Fiocchi HP ammo. It's the only ammo that jams in my gun. But the Hornady is the best. And there's not much difference between the two- the Fiocchi even uses the Hornady HPs in their load. Go figure... Anyway, .25s arent much good for anything besides SD- and practice type ammo isnt very effective. These are...
