Hornady has been an industry leader in high performance ammunition for decades. When the demand came for a better self defense round, Hornady answered the call with their Critical Defense line. All Critical Defense ammunition is loaded with the FTX bullet that features a hollow point with a polymer tip to maximize ballistic performance and reliable expansion. The FTX's unique designs allow it to feed reliably in pistols. Critical Defense brass cases have been nickel plated to prevent corrosion and make it significantly easier to see in low light environments. Wouldn't want to stand in the way of this bullet
I'd never shot a .357. Bought a Ruger LCR .357. I put a few .38 specials through it. Easy, mild kick. Put 10 rounds of this .357 through it. Quite a kick. I understand people saying this is not a range round! Hornady is my preferred carry round in 9mm, .40, and .357. Super powerful caliber. As always, CTD is awesome. Always super fast delivery.

Great product for home defense
I live in the city where lots of shootings occur. Recently noticed lots of stray and excessive force being used in several events. I fire two different 357 revovlers most 158 grain ammo and wanted to go more with lower power and faster expanding bullet. This bullet can reduce excessive force meaning bullet passes through and hurts others. Its a practical round for home defense

Maybe it is the semi-ball
Maybe it is the semi-ballistic tip or maybe it is the 125gr weight, but whatever it is, I get more consistent patterns at 25+ yds with this cartridge in a S&W 686+ w/6' barrel. It also seems to leave less residue on the cylinder face, which I take to mean that it burns cleaner.

A one bullet rating on HO
A one bullet rating on HORNADY ammo. Impossible, you think. I grew up thinking Hornady ammo was for rich people, top of the line, it didn't get any better, etc, etc. Well, in the last week, it has gone to 'never buy it again.' I fell for the looks of the critical defense little pointy nose with the red filling. Had been shooting Remington and Blazer but wanted a box of the mean looking Hornady to keep loaded in the hand cannon for the castle defense gun. Took my grown daughter down to the shooting spot and let her try my Colt King Cobra .357, took the Hornadys out and loaded her some .38 +p and let her shoot off about 24 rds. She was doing well so I decided to let her shoot 6 rds of Hornady .357 I had taken out to feel the difference. She had two FTFs out of the 6 rds. I was in disbelief. Hundreds of rounds of Remington and Blazer and not a hiccup; 6 rds of Hornady and 33% fail. The primers were dimpled quite well but no fire. Checked my gun, everything's fine. Back to the shooting spot, put 50 rds of Remington through the Colt - perfect. Shot the rest of the box of Hornady 125 gr FTX lot #3121835 and had 5 more FTFs, seven (7) FTFs from a box of 25. I am so disappointed but I am so glad I found out at the shooting spot and not when the bad guy was coming through the door. I buy thousands of rounds of ammo, but I will never buy another Hornady product.

I got this to keep in my
I got this to keep in my LCR. I've shot 10 rounds of it, just for practice. With my experience out of the lcr, the recoil is light and the flash is low. I like it so far.
