Hogue AR-15/M16 free float hand guards are built around a 6061 aircraft grade aluminum tube with a anodized matte black finish. A molded layer of non-slip elastomer is applied to the outside of a portion of the tube to provide you with a superior gripping surface. The included free float barrel nut requires the use of a strap wrench or a Hogue wrench in order to ensure that it is torqued to a value between 30-80 ft/lbs. This free float tube is designed to work in conjunction with direct gas impingement system rifles using a low profile gas block. This assembly will not work with gas piston systems.

I would not buy this again. I don't recommend it.
It looks and feels great and that's it. The provided nut wrench is a plastic joke that's too big on one side and too small on the other. I had to use other tools to tighten the nut. Strap wrench preferably cause anything else will mar and scratch the barrel nut. When tightened and gas tube installed, handguard won't fit over low pro gas tube. There's about a 1/4 moon from the top that is covered by the gand guard when screwed in to the barrel nut. It puts pressure on the gas tube if you force it into the threads, which then doesn't allow the Bcg to work properly. Found out the hard way on the range. If there's a special gast tube for this then it should be added to this. Other than that, I either have a defect cause it's too thick on the inside, or it's not made to be used on an AR15. I will have to grind down the inside of the handguard tube to clear the gas tube to make it usable. Pros: Looks great. Feels great. Nothing more.

This hand guard is very c
This hand guard is very comfortable. I really like the surface finish, not too sticky, and not too rough.I bought the finger groove grip with beaver tail also, and like them both.
