You spend all year dreaming of the moment of truth, so why trust it to anything less than the best? Vital-Shok is available with the world's finest big game bullets, from the unrivaled Trophy Bonded family to Nosler, Sierra and Barnes. Match that with world class brass, select powders and legendary primers and you get ammunition you can truly believe in.

Introduced in 1948, the Nosler Partition Bullet is the standard by which all others are measured. It all begins with Nosler's fully tapered copper alloy jacket. This jacket is designed to rupture instantly at the thin jacket mouth, yet the gradual thickening along the bullet's axis controls expansion and curls the jacket uniformly outward at high or low velocities. This Federal Vital-Shok ammunition, in popular .30-06 Springfield, which fires a heavy 180 Grain Nosler Partition bullet at 2700 fps is what you need on your big game hunt.

I've used this on elk, mule deer, and whitetails at ranges from 20 to 300 yards. It's heavier than needed for deer, but a fine multigame round. It performs extremely well -- expands very quickly and reliably, and penetrates very well, including through bone and gristle. Accuracy is very good -- shoots very small groups from a rest. None of this is surprising, and Nosler and Federal are both first rate. If you do your job right, this will stop your animal.
