Great multi purpose round
Hydra Shock is a great round. I’ve used the round for years from target shooting to light hunting. While living in Hawaii and dealing with feral hogs a single 124 grain round “eliminated” one feral hog on our property.

One Of The Best
I really like this defense round, it truely does has less felt recoil. When I first started shooting, this was the round I went with for carry purposes. Federal did a very good job with this "unique primer". Two thumbs way up!

No even worth the premium price!
Ridiculously expensive price for ammo that has little to offer over 50 round boxes of BJHP 124 grain ammo. Accuracy is very good, penetration is no better than other Federal ammo sold for half as much money.

Good reiable ammo
I've bought thousands of rounds of this stuff over the years, but haven't put out a review until now. Bottom line up front: This is reliable, accurate ammo that I would recommend for self defense. In all the rounds I've shot, I've never had a failure to fire, a mis-feed or a stovepipe. I shoot it primarily out of a Beretta 92FS, but have used lots of it in my other pistols as well. It is powerful and clean and the recoil is totally manageable. Pros: reliable, robust, durable, ages well Cons: I suppose it's a bit spendy
