An AR-15 without ammo? That’s like a dog without a bone, or a cat with nary a Tender Vittle to its name. It’s too sorry a state of affairs to allow to continue one minute longer than it has to!
Fortunately, the solution now glows inches away from your eyes. It’s Federal Premium’s widely implemented American Eagle 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition: loaded to specifications similar to M193, and a great fit for any gun that can chamber it!
This round is loaded with the budget-minded long-distance target shooter’s preferred 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. Each is outfitted with a boat tail, which is merely a slightly angled base that amplifies downrange velocity conservation and striking power (.246 G1 BC = ~58% kinetic energy retention at 200 yards). The FMJBT lacks any steel that would have precluded it from use at nonmagnetic-only firing ranges.
Pay no mind to the cases’ appearance. They are only discolored where they were annealed (a heat treatment method for strengthening brass). Their darker necks prove they were made correctly; not previously fired and remanufactured!
