Federal Premium quality. Tackdriving Hornady hunting bullet. The stellar performance Jack O’Connor promised us all. This 270 Win cartridge has them all in its back pocket.
The ELD-X could easily double as a match bullet. It hasn’t simply got an Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, which possesses virtually zero wall thickness variation or runout. It hasn’t just got a low-drag boat tail and secant ogive profile, either. The ELD-X also features the Heat Shield tip, which is named after its immunity to aerodynamic friction, and has a Drag Variability Reduction Technology flat meplat to enhance drag uniformity while simultaneously slashing dispersion.
The ELD-X really shines when you take aim at game, though. The bullet’s robust shank tapers to a thin rim, which the tip easily peels back as it plunges deep into the core. While the front of the bullet sees to fast expansion, the rear uses its InterLock ring to keep said thick shank secured to the core. That keeps the ELD-X mostly intact, so it conserves the mass it needs to punch deep – even at higher velocities.
