Federal Premium has marked the recent passage of our semiquincentennial by boxing up this nice, collectable .22 LR ammunition. It is the same 36 grain copper-plated hollow point ammo they normally market as “Champion” (#745) or “BYOB” (#750BKT1375) – this time, in pretty red-white-and-blue Independence Day style packaging.
Plinkers and target shooters the country over love this ammunition. It’s loaded with light bullets, so it doesn’t have to generate relatively much pressure to hit 1,260 fps muzzle velocity. The CPHP’s talents do not include rapid terminal expansion (hence Federal’s abstention from marketing it to hunters). The CPHP is plenty accurate, though, and its 110 ft lbs striking energy at 25 yards wouldn’t exactly constitute “nonlethal force” to a varmint.
