This is *special* .45 ACP defense ammunition – the kind of stuff that by no means eliminates the risk of over-penetration which could have disastrous consequences for innocent bystanders, but which does substantially reduce it. It represents welcome peace if mind if circumstances ever require you to neutralize a threat in a crowded or otherwise populated area!

From its outside appearance, this cartridge is loaded with a regular jacketed hollow point bullet, complete with a notched copper jacket to facilitate lower-velocity expansion. The bullet’s 150 grain weight (which accounts for its abnormally high, supersonic muzzle velocity) belies its special feature: a lead-free frangible core, which impact pulverizes into dust and crumbles. By breaking apart after striking a solid surface (and potentially flesh), the frangible HP effectively sheds momentum that might otherwise have caused it to over-penetrate. Clever ammo, safer for close-range steel target shooting, and made in America to boot!

Have these been test using the FBI protocol for Wallboard Penetration and what was the result? Thank you Bob
Answer: Hello again Bob! I just heard back from DRT. Here is their answer to your question: "I am going to answer this to the best of my knowledge. Did we send ammo to the FBI to test with a report back on how the projectiles performed? Short answer No. FBI protocols measure a few different criteria, some that we use and think are of critical importance and others - not so much. We have sent countless amounts of ammo all over the world for testing. We have sent a lot of ammo to the DHS, countless Sheriffs and PD's, as well as many Nuclear Facilities, SWAT, and other elite teams. These reports are not published, nor available to us. They typically test them and then report back to us only if they don't like something. The 45 has been one that we really have not sold a ton of to LE. The round just didn't gain much popularity, mostly in part to the idea that you have to have a heavy projectile in order to stop a threat. This is not 100% accurate and although the 230 FMJ is formidable- we designed a different kind of projectile that causes massive trauma, adequate penetration, extremely accurate, considerably less recoil, and lighter in the mag. So to answer the question with a yes or no, I felt I needed to explain a little better- after the no."
