This ammunition is also safe for .327 Federal Magnum firearms.
Doubletap did not load this .32 H&R Magnum cartridge with a lead-free bullet for the sake of environmental conservation. Sure – you *could* use it for hunting appropriately sized game on protected land, but the Barnes TAC-XP is specifically designed for defense.
The TAC-XP’s solid copper construction bestows multiple benefits to its performance. The bullet can’t deposit lead fouling in a revolver’s rifling (though it does create copper fouling). It also is far more robust than a conventional lead-and-copper bullet. It foregoes fragmentation during and after impact almost entirely, which helps it hang on to more momentum and penetrate deeper through flesh.
The TAC-XP is armed with a nose cavity. Instead of mushrooming, it folds out six flat, square petals as it releases its energy laterally and scores out a wide wound column.
Doubletap loaded this ammo in Utah with flash-suppressed propellant – a feature which will help you remain able to see as you fire at night. Doubletap also recorded its 1,395 fps muzzle velocity using a 6” test barrel. They report its MV out of a Ruger SP101’s 3” barrel at 1,300 fps; muzzle energy 225 ft lbs.
