We’d probably want heavier artillery than the .32 H&R Magnum if we were accosted by a grizzly. But for smaller American animal threats – boar and black bear and the like – the .32 Mag can absolutely do the job.

But only if it’s loaded with the right bullet, which this round most certainly is. The hard cast is made of richly alloyed lead, and therefore avoids wasting energy on deformation that it could otherwise have invested into penetration. In other words, the bullet puts all its chips of digging out the deepest wound channel it can. And unlike an FMJ, the hard cast has a wide, flat nose (“WFN”) profile which stamps a mighty harmful wound cavity through game.

Doubletap loads this ammo with pristine reloadable brass cases, as well as low-flash powder that won’t blind you at night. The Utah manufacturer used a 6” test barrel to capture the round’s 1,050 fps muzzle velocity. If you have a Ruger SP101 with a 3” barrel, then you can instead expect 1,025 fps MV and 280 ft lbs ME.

I have an old Colt 32 cal Detective Special revolver. Will this work with the revolver? Thanks
Answer: No sir! This ammo won't fit in your revolver – and even if it could, ignition would only succeed at blowing up your revolver. Your Colt is chambered for .32 S&W Long (which means it can also safely fire .32 S&W (aka .32 S&W Short, which, as you probably already gathered, is weaker). Here's all the .32 Long ammo we currently have in stock: https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ammunition/handgun-ammo/32-sandw-long
I have a Smith & Wesson 32 H&R Magnum with the stainless steel cylinder. The owners manual says not to shoot Plus P rounds through it. While this round is not advertise as a plus P round, are the pressures that it generate safe to use in this revolver, or my better off abstaining?
Answer: Hi Lew! No sir, this ammo's not loaded to a higher pressure than your revolver's designed to accomodate. Its max pressure is the same as any other standard pressure load you could buy.
