Pros: flatter trajectory, increased striking power. Cons: higher recoil, accelerated deterioration of barrel/moving parts, incompatibility with firearms that aren’t rated for +P.

This self-defense round is loaded with Corbon’s own DPX solid copper hollow point; an outstandingly durable projectile, which consistently holds on to the totality (or near entirety) of its weight. That’s the key to its reliably and lethally deep penetration, even when a barrier interrupts its trajectory. The DPX lives up to the “X” in its name by undergoing massive eXpansion, which constitutes the other major reason why the threat truly won’t like being hit by it.

This round’s lightweight bullet (an effect of copper’s lower density) and heavy pressure add up to an abnormally brisk 1,075 fps muzzle velocity (5” test barrel). That’s still subsonic, which, alongside the DPX’s inability to deposit lead fouling, makes it suitable for suppressor use.
