I bought this to take with me when I go on extended hikes. It is just a tad bit heavier than I would like but not a deal breaker. I still plan to take it. Out of the box the fit and finish was about what I expected for the money. The 'coated' blade is just cheap black paint which I stripped with spray on stripper, which took about 10 minutes. The steel underneath is very rough and will take some work to polish up.The cutting edge was ok at best. I chopped a piece of pine that was about a year old and about 7' in diameter. I chopped through but it took some work. I sharpened the blade and chopped the same piece of wood and it made a huge difference. The blade maintained it new edge pretty well. Once I was done testing the new edge it only took a quick hit with the polishing stone to get the edge back to razor sharp.Am I happy with it? YesWould I buy another? Yes
