By the end of 1863, the 1861 Springfield Rifled Musket was the principal firearm of Federal infantry, although the Enfield was also in widespread use. The percussion lock is marked with 1861 Springfield and an eagle. Military style sights allow shooting at long ranges. Like the original, this modern day reproduction has an armory bright satin white finish and includes a swelled ramrod. The 1861 Springfield is capable of long range accuracy to 300 yards and beyond, and is NSSA approved.
