In fact, some hand loaders and shooters find it is as important as a good rest when testing ammo. Often times, the actual muzzle velocity you get from a specific hand load or even factory ammunition is different than what is published in the book or printed on the box. This velocity can vary by as much as 150fps or more.

The Caldwell Shooting Supplies Ballistic Precision Chronograph utilizes a high speed 48 MHz processor that allows it be factory calibrated to within 0.25% accuracy, much better than other chronographs on the market. Although technologically advanced, the unit is designed to be simple to operate, displaying velocity in Feet per second or Meters per second on the large built in LCD screen. The Chrono can also deliver the shot string velocity data through the 15' foot audio jack cable (included) to an iPhone or iPad.
