FN Herstal and Winchester have worked out an arrangement. The Belgian company makes firearms under license by Winchester, while the American company produces ammo under FN’s Browning brand. As a range and target load, this cartridge is as ordinary as ordinary can be. It is outfitted with a 180 grain projectile, which produces average recoil as it accelerates to 1,020 fps muzzle velocity (4” bbl). The projectile is a full metal jacket, which supplies smooth semi-automatic functionality and zero terminal expansion. The FMJ’s flat nose is the standard frontal profile for a .40 caliber bullet.

Winchester’s (and therefore Browning’s) centerfire ammunition is always loaded with new brass cases and noncorrosive Boxer primers. Any handloader will find good use for once-fired Browning brass. Five boxes of 100 rounds per case.
