CCI’s Blazer label has always stood for Idaho-made quality. First the ammo was exclusively loaded with CCI’s revolutionary aluminum cases. But once the market began associating Blazer with great value and reliable operation in all firearms, CCI decided to begin offering Blazer Brass as well.
This is that ammunition: loaded with supple, reloadable, and overall cleaner-shooting brass shells. What really makes this ammo special is its versatility. You could very well employ its 180 grain jacketed hollow point bullet for personal defense. Its notched rim’s capacity for broad terminal expansion and estimated 368 ft lbs striking energy at 50 yards (out of a 4” barrel) both suit it well to that application. But because the JHP wears a plated jacket instead of a thicker, traditional one, it also has a more economical design that makes it favorable for high-volume target shooting.
The JHP’s plated jacket goes hand in hand with one primary shortcoming. A ported muzzle device or barrel can peel a piece of it off and bounce it back at the shooter, which is undesirable for obvious reasons. So long as your gun isn’t ported, it’s fine and ready for Blazer Brass!
