Unless it is specially modified, this ammunition will fail to cycle a semi-automatic firearm.

The vast, VAST majority of 5.56x45mm ammunition is loaded to supersonic muzzle velocity. For context, the MV of a standard M193 load is 3,240 fps – almost *three times* the speed of sound.

That makes this round by Armscor exceptional. Its 77 grain projectile accelerates to 1,100 fps out of the manufacturer’s 18” test barrel, which is around 25 fps slower than the speed of sound.

What does that mean? Muzzle energy equivalent to that of a 380 ACP. Effective range of around 100 yards, tops. But most importantly, it means you’ll witness the softest report you’ve probably ever heard out of your AR-15. And if your AR-15 happens to have a suppressor, then you’ll truly hear the thing muffle gunfire to its fullest potential.

This round is loaded with a Hornady open tip match (.355 G1 BC). It’s a heavy, balanced, and ballistically efficient projectile that needs *at least* 1:9” twist to stabilize. It’s not designed for terminal expansion, although this round’s feeble striking energy is good enough reason on its own not to use it for hunting.
