This shell rockets a 7/8 ounce rifled lead slug at a muzzle velocity of 1,250 fps. Striking energy at close range is substantially higher than the minimum recommended for whitetail, which means it’s more than potent enough to end a home defense scenario in the homeowner’s favor.

This round’s lighter projectile (relative to other 12 Gauge loads, at least) does breed lower recoil, which is excellent if you’re trying to keep muzzle flip to the barest possible minimum. And since the shell is 1” shorter than normal, you’re able to fit almost twice as many in a tubular magazine.

Take care that this ammo doesn’t function in detachable box magazines, and that some pump-action shotguns can’t cycle it without an adapter.
