“Colibri.” It means “hummingbird,” though you’re unlikely to notice any similarities if you only place this .22 LR cartridge next to the bird. But once you fire it, you’ll surely understand why Aguila named the round after such a weak, tiny creature.

This is the weakest .22 LR ammo on the market (so far as we’re aware, at least). Its miniscule 20 grain unplated lead bullet picks up a muzzle velocity of just 420 fps, and conserves a paltry 6 ft lbs of kinetic energy at 100 yards because of it.

A tiny bullet alone couldn’t account for such impotency. This round also owes its near complete lack or recoil and virtually nonexistent report to its lack of propellant. The only thing pushing the bullet down the barrel is ignition of the primer.

This round’s bullet may get stuck inside a rifle barrel. Safest bet is to choose a revolver, or a bolt-action pistol. (By the way, “aguila” means “eagle.” That means this ammo’s full name is “Eagle Hummingbird.” Just throwing that out there.)
